Hi, I’m Anya Forestell, welcome to my website! I grew up in Fredericton, New Brunswick (Canada) with four siblings and two dogs. At eighteen, I moved to Waterloo, Ontario to pursue my dreams of exploring the universe – by recently completing a degree in Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. From a young age, I’ve had a passion for learning, which has now become a love of teaching, too. My curiosity has led me to explore everything from theatre performance, to synthetic biology research, to dance, to educational video making, to speeches on intersectional feminism, to cooking, and beyond.

When it comes to education, I’ve had a variety of experiences. I started tutoring other students in math and physics six years ago. I then worked with Sylvan Learning for a summer, teaching students French, math, chemistry, and physics. In January 2017, I began working with Minute School, developing complete online physics courses at the first- and second-year post-secondary level. This required making engaging videos and fun quizzes, and I thoroughly enjoyed this experience!

In September 2017, I began a full-time Teaching Assistant position at WatPD (Waterloo Professional Development), guiding first- and second- year post-secondary students in their employment search (resume/cover letter writing and interview skills), and have since been a regular part-time TA. My success in my own job searches, landing prestigious positions with research facilities such as Canada’s Particle Accelerator Centre TRIUMF and the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, has provided me with helpful insights for others beginning their job search.
